The Library's New Garden!
Since the renovations, the front of the library has looked a little under-dressed. Thanks to generous donations from local businesses and the hard work of our Trustees and volunteers, as of June 25, 2011 we look great!
Karl Scamman of Scamman's Home & Garden (Portsmouth Ave.) donated soil and roses - and their landscape designer! Bill Holt of Willow Mist Grasses (Union St.) donated beautiful grasses that will be beautiful from Spring through Winter; and Bill made sure that we knew how to take care of them too! Marie Niro, manager at Shaw's Supermarket gave us the final touch -- mulch! All of this would have cost the library nearly $600.00, but these generous business people made it happen.
Of course, it wouldn't have gotten into the ground without the hard work of many volunteers who prepared the beds, selected the plants, and came out on a rainy Saturday morning to get the job done. Thank you Eileen Bischoff, Connie Adams, Bruce Cotter, Colin Cotter, Dree Sherry, Carol Gulla, and Vicki Marbacher.
Be sure to check out the new garden the next time you are at the library and when you are shopping with these local businesses, be sure to thank them on our behalf!
