Mission
Our mission is to be the best library we can be through our exceptional service, relevant resources and unwavering commitment to the enjoyment of reading, lifelong learning, intellectual freedom and community. … and to have fun doing it!

Goals
Throughout its history, the Wiggin Memorial Library has made information available in a variety of formats, from print to audiovisual materials.  The library’s computer system provides the opportunity to integrate electronic resources, i.e. the Internet, from information networks around the world with the library’s other resources.  By offering the Internet as an information resource, the Wiggin Memorial Library’s primary goals are to enhance its existing collection in size and depth and, as a public access agency, give any cardholder the opportunity to navigate the Internet in the library.

Policy
The library staff will identify specific starting points for searches on the library’s home page which are appropriate to the library’s mission and service roles.  The library cannot control or monitor other material which may be accessible from Internet sources.  The library staff will also perform searches on behalf of those who wish to have them do so.

Since the number of terminals and the amount of staff time are both limited, the staff may limit the amount of time any individual may spend on the Internet terminal, as well as the amount of research that staff will do on behalf of any individual patron.

Since it is not possible to apply the same selection criteria which are used for other library material, individual users accept responsibility for determining the suitability and credibility of the content they view.  Parents accept responsibility for determining the suitability of the content viewed by their minor children.
