FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
During the 2010 construction for renovating the library, things may get confusing.  We'll be moving a lot of things around, storing some items & some days could get loud or dusty.  Here are answers to some of the questions we get asked a lot.  Please e-mail us with other questions that you have.

Will you be open while renovations are going on?

Yes we will. The only reason we would need to close would be if some part of the construction created a hazard. We would post any unexpected closing on our Web site, by e-mail and on our phone voice mail system.
Where are all your books?

Because we will be temporarily occupying considerably less space, we need to store part of the collection off-site. The most recent 6-months of acquisitions, new items arriving, and popular items are still accessible in the room near the children's room. All of the stored items will return when the renovations are complete and the shelving is set up in its new locations.
What if I want one of the books that is in storage?

We will gladly request any items through InterLibrary Loan during renovations. That puts more than 200 libraries at your disposal. You can make an InterLibrary Loan request on our Web site or by calling, e-mailing or stopping by the library.
When will the renovations be finished?

We aren't sure. Right now there are too many unknown factors to narrow down an end date. A lot rests on us being able to dismantle shelves and move things out of the construction crew's way too. We're all working very hard and hope that sometime in the fall we'll be able to host a big open house in the completely renovated library.
We should have a better idea of the schedule once the front part of the library is complete. We will post updates as we have them.
Will the library be hosting programs during renovations?

YES!
We have many great events scheduled for adults, teens, kids and families. Please be sure to check our events calendar & Facebook page - or sign up for the e-mail updates on the Web site.
Can I use any other local libraries while you are renovating?

Yes you can. Both Greenland and North Hampton have generously agreed to let Stratham library users use their regular collections at no charge! To use the Greenland library, please come to the Stratham Library first to get a barcode for your library card. To use the North Hampton Library, go to the North Hampton Library on Atlantic Ave and they will contact us to confirm that you are in good standing before you check anything out.
Will you have an outside bookdrop after the renovations?

Yes! As soon as our main entrance is finished and usable, the outside bookddrop will reopen. It will be under the new entrance roof protected from the weather and easily accessible.
