If you need to search for information about a topic, these are some good places to start. Some of these are Web sites and some are online databases. If you'd like some help or if you are having some trouble searching, just ask! We're happy to help.


Search the Web
Easy searching for kids & teens using the Google index.
Brought to you by the Information Please Almanac, there is a search option at the top of the page.
There's lots of other fun things to do here as well, but you'll find the SEARCH box in the upper right of the screen.
This great way to find information was designed for kids by librarians. Click on your subject and you'll find lots of great web sites!
Type in your question, and you'll be led to an answer on-line.

Encyclopedias, Dictionaries Magazines, Etc. On-line
  • World Book Encyclopedia You're used to its excellent information, illustrations, maps and charts in print; You'll find this on-line version just as useful if not more so.

Word Central's Student Dictionary is a fast way to look up what words mean.

Here you can search for magazine articles on many different topics. Ask for help if you're just getting started!
Here you'll find biographies of people from science, entertainment, sports, politics and more. It contains over 400,000 biographies on more than 320,000 people from around the world and throughout history.

Homework Help
Many of the elementary school classrooms post their homework assignments on the school Web site. Click on your grade and then your teacher's name to see if any homework is listed.
You might want to start with the Homework Center Link for Reference Sources, Common School Subjects & more.
Never done a science fair project before? Don't worry. This Web page will walk you through it.
